Honoring Pauline Oliveros
The Midtown Arts District is raising funds to install an interpretive sign honoring the life and contributions of the influential Kingston arts leader, Pauline Oliveros.
This sign will be placed in The Deep Listening Plaza at The Commons on Broadway this spring. When people enter The Deep Listening Plaza they will come to understand how Pauline Oliveros influenced our community and the rest of the world with her avant-guard music.
The beautiful interpretive sign, designed by volunteer Rick Whelan, will be a reminder of the significance of Pauline’s work and of the vital role that the arts play in our community.
The sign will cost $1,800 installed. Rick has kindly donated his time and talent to create the design. MAD has received a matching grant from the Midtown business Bailey Pottery Equipment for up to $900. That means EVERY donation will be matched until we reach our goal of $1,800!
Please be as generous as you can to support this initiative. We are all in this together and the interpretive sign will be a great way to start our work on The Deep Listening Plaza in Midtown Kingston.
