Annual Red Goat Award
The Midtown Kingston Arts District (MKAD) is proud to announce the 9th Annual Red Goat Awards, a celebration of extraordinary individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts in Kingston.
Since its inception, the Red Goat Awards have honored those who have championed the arts and enriched the Kingston community through creativity, dedication, and service. The MKAD Board of Directors carefully selects the honorees each year, highlighting their remarkable impact. This year’s awardees are no exception, showcasing their unwavering commitment to fostering the arts and cultural growth in Kingston.
2024 Honorees
Scott Dutton
Scott Dutton, along with his wife Terese, became integral to Kingston’s creative resurgence after purchasing the former Canfield Supply warehouse in 2000. A trailblazer in Midtown Kingston, Scott’s architectural expertise has shaped countless arts-focused projects, including the acclaimed Lace Mills Lofts and the Fuller Building, a cornerstone for creative professionals and community engagement. Through his dedication, Scott has provided quality spaces that nurture the arts community, embodying the spirit of collaboration and innovation.
Nancy Donskoj
Since 1987, Nancy Donskoj has been a relentless advocate for Kingston’s arts and history. As a gallery owner, she co-produced the Artist’s Soapbox Derby for nearly two decades, chaired pivotal arts committees, and spearheaded international artist exchanges, including the Ulster to Ulster Artists Exchange and collaborations for the county’s Quadricentennial Celebration. Her co-leadership of the Sinterklaas Committee and creation of the Todd Samara Artists Award reflect her commitment to cultivating traditions that celebrate Kingston’s rich heritage and artistic future.
Chris Silva
For 30 years, Chris Silva has transformed the arts landscape in Ulster County and beyond as Executive Director of the Bardavon UPAC. Under his leadership, the Bardavon grew from an $800,000 annual budget to $5 million, presenting over 2,500 events featuring icons like Patti LaBelle, Bob Dylan, and Itzhak Perlman. His vision brought significant capital improvements to both the Bardavon and Ulster Performing Arts Center, securing their legacy as cultural landmarks. In 2002, Chris earned New York State’s Governor’s Arts Award, a testament to his enduring influence on the arts.
