What are your best selling/most popular products?
A growing number of people are bringing their artwork to us to be framed, valuing both our aesthetic advice and craftsmanship.
Do you represent others’ work or do you only offer your own products? Tell us a little about how you develop (or accept) new products to offer to your customers.
Since Doug has been in the art supply business for almost 40 years and is an artist himself, he knows the products on the Artist’s Shop’s shelves first hand. Always interested in high-quality materials, we pride ourselves in providing the finest to the Kingston artist.
Also, The Kingston location has a Clearance Corner that is very popular. There, one can find watercolors, gouache, acrylics, and oils at a 50% – 70% discount.
What are the most interesting new trends in your field? Are your business model or products changing as a result?
Many artists are moving to Kingston. We opened the Atwater Gallery in the Kingston store location in June of 2018 to celebrate artists of the Hudson Valley. With 800 square feet of uninterrupted viewing space, we are able to show large works of contemporary art.
How has being in Kingston inspired, enhanced or changed your work? If you live or work in the Midtown Arts District, what do you like best about it? How long have you lived in Kingston or the Hudson Valley?
We have lived in Kingston for 27 years and love it. We are excited by the energy the artists who choose Midtown are bringing to the city.
