MKK’s “Photography Now!” Exhibit, New Sessions

Registration is now open for MyKingstonKids’ (MKK) third, eight-week session of the “Photography Now” series! This free new non-profit series is hosted by the Ulster County Restorative Justice and Community Empowerment Center and led by local professional photographer and MKK program director, Star Nigro. Photographs by the students who attended Nigro’s first two eight-week sessions will be shown during a live online photography exhibit and reception to be held on Saturday, July 11 from 3-4:30 p.m. on the Facebook page for MyKingstonKids. Photographs in the exhibit include captivating, creative images of Kingston’s Uptown district and moments of everyday life. The young photographers (ages 12-18) will receive payment for all photos sold during the online exhibit on mykingstonkids.com from July 12 – August 31.

“As you can see from all these pictures I have shared, I am proud of my talented students,” says Nigro. “I have been so blessed to encourage and work with them.”

Students enrolled in the first two sessions learned the history of photography, focused on artistic and technical application of the medium, and directly worked with professional DSLR cameras. The second series was taught via Zoom working with cell phones to cameras. A Certificate of Completion was given to each student who finished the program.

The third series of the Photography Now eight-week sessions begins on August 5.
