Steve Finkle Photographs Exhibit at City Hall through June
Visitors to Kingston City Hall are invited to linger over a photography exhibition in the ground floor hall honoring the late Steve Finkle, former Director of the City’s Office of Economic Development. Steve Finkle Photographs will continue through June during City Hall hours, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Finkle’s passion for photography led him to capture images of nature, especially flowers, although he also ventured into experimental topics as well.
The exhibit is the latest in a series of shows managed by Suzanne Cahill, Director of the City’s Planning Office. In recent years, Art Society of Kingston presented works by local artists and Reher Center for Immigrant History & Culture mounted archival photos of Kingston’s industrial architecture.
City Hall’s Ruskinian architecture, terrazzo floors, marble stairs, decorative iron work and wall treatments, period lighting fixtures, plaster lunettes depicting Kingston’s 350-year history, monumental 19th-century sculpture, and a venerable collection of paintings – from portraits of George Washington and Governor Clinton to celebrated regional artists of the 1930s – reveal Kingston’s history as an artistic and cultural treasure.
