Concert for Pauline
A CONCERT FOR PAULINE will be held in the beautiful Kingston City Hall Council Chambers on Sunday, May 19, 2019. This event will be an amazing gathering of more than 25 local and international musicians and composers converging for the joyous occasion. Musician-composer and humanitarian, Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016), left us too soon, but her music and her spirit continue on.
You may already know how special her music is, or perhaps you will discover it for the first time at the City Hall concert. Those who attend will experience the strength of the Deep Listening community and the depth of feeling for the legacy of Pauline Oliveros in our city and throughout the world.
Over the last few years, our City of Kingston and the arts community have been amazingly supportive of Pauline’s legacy: A memorial concert was held in March 2017, when a city-owned pocket park in Midtown on Broadway was named the “Deep Listening Plaza,” and an exhibition of selected “Still Listening” scores is currently on view at the City Hall’s Ground Floor Gallery.
May 30th would have been Pauline’s 87th birthday but she and her partner, IONE, considered all of May to be celebratory. This May 19 CONCERT FOR PAULINE will honor her with an early celebration of her birthday and of her life with music and sound.
The City of Kingston, the Kingston Midtown Arts District (MAD) and the Kingston Arts Commission have generously assisted us with providing the space and promotional materials.
The organizers of the CONCERT FOR PAULINE would like to offer a modest honorarium for each of the musicians and tech crew.
Can you please help us raise $2000 toward that end?
