KA2021: Call for Entries
Submission Deadline EXTENDED till July 26th
Hosted by MAD and Arts Society of Kingston (ASK), this fine arts exhibition highlights exciting and emerging artists living and working in Kingston and the Mid-Hudson region. The deadline for artists to submit work is July 12, 2021, and prizes will be awarded for 1st ($500), 2nd ($250) and 3rd ($150) place entries. Works will be exhibited September 4 – 26 at ASK Gallery—with onsite opening and closing receptions on September 4 and 25—and simultaneously in an archived online gallery for subsequent viewing.
KA2021 will be curated by Ransome, whose works are part of both private and public collections including the Petrucci Family Foundation Collection of African-American Art; Anna Conlan, Director of the Dorsky Museum in New Paltz; and Sevan Melikyan, Owner and Curator of Wired Gallery in High Falls, NY. The featured guest artist will be Andrew Lyght.
Lyght, a Guyana-born contemporary mixed-media artist who lives in Kingston, often combines drawings, painterly elements, industrial objects and sculptural wooden assemblages. His work is held in collections at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Jewish Museum, New York; the World Bank Art Program, Washington, D.C.; the Studio Museum, Harlem, NY; the Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton, MA; and others.
The inaugural KA2020 exhibition last year attracted 180+ artists who submitted 325 works of art: curator Julie Hedrick selected 25 artists and guest artist Judy Pfaff for the exhibition at ASK and in a virtual gallery.
