Margaret S. Inge, President is Development Director of TRANSART, the region’s first institution dedicated to the arts and culture of African Americans in their 400 year history in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Maggie is an award-winning newspaper columnist, former network television executive and owner of her own management consulting firm. She has nurtured several emerging not-for-profit organizations.
Madeleine Cutrona
Madeleine Cutrona, Vice-President, is a visual artist and cultural worker. She makes ceramic sculptures and installations that explore the world around her and the world she wants to exist. Madeleine is the Director of Fiscal Sponsorship at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) where she helps artists fundraise and manage their projects. She is interested in how artists garner resources, build support, and hone skills to execute their visions.
Pharoah Phoenix
Pharoah Phoenix, Secretary. I was born and raised right here in Kingston!…I’ve always been a creative mind trying to make my space more beautiful. I am a mother of three and a grandmother to one!…but also a friend, sister, daughter. My form of artistry is paint by acrylic but I have always love crafting, singing and dancing!… anything can be an inspiration for art and that’s what makes it beautiful!
Jason Mones
Jason Mones, Treasurer is an educator and artist living in Kingston. Having worked as a professor at various colleges in the northeast, Jason has an extensive background in teaching the visual arts to people of all ages. He has a passion for providing creative opportunities to Kingston’s underserved communities through fostering active engagement in the arts. Jason is a member of the executive and treasury committees.
Frank Waters
Frank Waters, Executive Member At Large is an artist, a dedicated father, husband and member of the Kingston community. He has a passion for entrepreneurship, marketing and simply bringing people together. Waters is Executive Director of Kingston Midtown Rising. His notable projects include Black History Month Kingston and MyKingstonKids, a nonprofit organization that focuses on producing and promoting events, activities and content for families. Waters is vice-president of Harambee and a board member of the Successful River Cities Coalition.
Zachary Bowman
Zachary Bowman is an arts educator and administrator currently serving as the Manager of Education and Visitor Experience at The Dorsky Museum on the campus of SUNY New Paltz. He was previously the Senior Manager of Visitor Engagement and School Programs at MoMA PS1 and a Museum Educator at The Guggenheim Museum in New York City. He is passionate about using art to strengthen community bonds, breaking down barriers between arts organizations and their surrounding communities, and making art museums welcoming spaces for those who don’t feel welcome.
Sophi Kravitz
Sophi Kravitz is a sculptor, engineer, and business owner. She was born in Poughkeepsie and is a SUNY New Paltz graduate. Sophi’s first public art was a giant faux birthday cake for Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC). The cake was installed on a tall pedestal via helicopter on Fire Island to the dancing joy of thousands. With that, her intention to bring community together over art (and food!) was cemented. Her company MIX-E focuses on Business Development and Operations in the technology space.
Sara Pasti
Sara Pasti is an arts and development consultant serving non-profit arts organizations in the Hudson Valley. Her consulting focus includes start-up projects, strategic planning, and fund development. From 2009-2019 she served as the Neil C. Trager Director of the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz.
Debra Priestly
Debra Priestly is a visual artist and educator living and working in New York City and the Mid-Hudson Valley, which she has called home since 2002. Her multi-media work, incorporating drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, explores memory, ancestry, history, and cultural preservation. She has taught art for over three decades as a full professor and a visiting artist in various institutions. Priestly is committed to building and maintaining communities through art education and creative practices.
Jay Sherman-Godfrey
A native of Michigan and long-time NYC resident, Jay moved to Kingston in 2021 with his partner Renée Stonebraker. Working in advertising and communications since graduating from NYU’s film school in the mid 1980s, he is currently an editorial director and brand strategist at Thinkso, a New York-based creative agency.
Michael Torres
Photographer, Michael A. Torres, founded the Kingston-based Soul Reflections Art & Photography Collective in 2022. The Collective supports and elevates new, emerging, and established artists and photographers of color and creates unique opportunities for them to exhibit their work.
Most recently, he restored hundreds of photographs taken by Benjamin Wigfall and Sharon Vandyke of the thriving Black Kingston Community of the 1970s and 1980s. In partnership with Riverview Baptist Church, Transart and Good Work Institute, and SUNY New Paltz the Collective exhibited these works during a successful four-installment event in various locations receiving high accolades and bringing the beloved community even closer together.
He has provided pro bono professional photography services for Ulster County-based organizations including, but not limited to Bardavon Presents, the City of Kingston Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Harambee Kingston NY/Pine Street African Burial Ground, Midtown Arts District, the Margaret Wade Lewis Center, the Land in Black Hands Committee of the Kingston Land Trust, Transart, and more.
His artwork has been exhibited at The West Strand Art Gallery, Old Dutch Church Gallery, Unison Arts, Good Work Institute, Transart, the City Hall Gallery, Deep Tanks Studios Gallery, and Lace Mill Gallery.
