MAD Launch Event to Honor Nina Dawson and Ev Mann

The Midtown Arts District will launch officially on October 27 with a free evening of music and dance for all ages at Broadway Commons, 615 Broadway.

At 5:00 pm, join The Flying Kingstonians Brass Brand in a fanfare as Kingston Mayor Steve Noble welcomes the community to a triple Ribbon Cutting for the new Broadway Commons, The Collective events pavilion, and the Midtown Arts District!

From 5:30 – 7:30 enjoy performances by Pauline Oliveros & Ione, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Peter Wetzler & Elena Reyes, The Gold Hope Duo, David Temple, Percussion Orchestra of Kingston (POOK) and a Center for Creative Education (CCE) dance team.

Ward 4 Alderwoman Nina Dawson and CCE founder Ev Mann will receive The Red Goat Award, a new Kingston tradition recognizing outstanding service to the arts. Arts District Co-Founder Anne Bailey called this year’s awards especially meaningful for the MAD team. “We’re committed to working toward equity and inclusion for those who live in Midtown neighborhoods surrounding the Arts District,” said Bailey. “Both Nina and Ev have demonstrated a commitment to serving Midtown youth and families. Their commitment inspires and guides MAD’s efforts.”
